From the Latin clandestinus. On the sly; done on the sly; without anyone knowing; hidden; that is contrary to laws or morals. Planted in the open air and in the heart of the Dão, the grapes that embody this Clandestino have a distant origin. Made in a complicit way, by all those who harvested and worked them, this wine turns out to be fresh, greedy, enigmatic and even – say the evil tongues – immoral.
Tasting Notes
Two international grape varieties are part of the blend, fermented together, thus promoting a superior integration of their particular qualities.
One of the grape varieties is known for its aromatic personality, with dense tones, and full of notes of ripe white fruits. On the other hand, it plays more on austerity and delicacy, where light floral touches appear, contributing to the harmony of the lot! In the mouth, the volume and density of one contrast harmoniously with the firmness and restraint of the other.
The happy marriage of these two grape varieties was sponsored by the particular terroir of Quinta da Teixuga, by giving the two international grape varieties all the conditions to develop their personality, influenced, however, by the temperament Portuguese!
Harmonization
Due to its freshness and balance, it harmonizes well with cold seafood, Italian dishes with cheese, grilled fish, dried fruits with honey.
