TRUFA NEGRA is a wine produced with grapes from two vineyard plots located in the Douro in the Cima Corgo sub-region. The first, in Valença do Douro, is an old vineyard (over 70 years old) and with a blend of approximately 30 native grape varieties. It is located between 300 and 350 meters of altitude with exposure to the north. The second, at the mouth of the Távora River, is about 30 years old and has a mixture of grape varieties where Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz predominate. It is located between 100 and 150 m above sea level and faces east.
Vinification
After careful manual selection on the sorting mat, the grapes were destemmed and foot trodden in a granite lagar, then passed to stainless steel vats where they fermented for a period of 8 days.
Aging
After malolactic fermentation, the wine aged for 17 months in French oak barrels, 10% new and 90% used.
Tasting Notes
The aroma is concentrated, with notes of black fruit and spices. In the mouth it is full-bodied, has a complex flavour where black futa stands out and has intense but well-integrated tannins that give the wine a long and fresh finish. It is a very gastronomic wine.
