About this Wine

Viticulture

The clay loam soils where it is planted allow the Pinot Noir variety to display its attributes. In 2019, we obtained an average productivity of 6.7 Ton/HA. This balance between quantity and quality, together with a mild climate, has made it possible to obtain a raw material of excellence. The Pinot Noir variety originates from lands with colder climates and has found in our terroir the conditions that allow it to express two of its main characteristics: freshness and elegance.

Tasting Notes

Open pinkish color. Predominantly fruity aroma with notes of grapefruit, raspberries and fresh watermelon. In the mouth it is smooth, with volume, showing a balanced and refreshing acidity . The finish is long and saline.

Vinification

Manual harvesting. Grapes are pressed into whole bunches. Fermentation took place in a stainless steel tank. Aging for 6 months in the same stainless steel vats, on the fine lees.

When, 30 years ago, Ole Martin Siem came to Portugal, his agricultural background, given by his academic and professional career, allowed him to recognize in this country the ideal soil and climate conditions for wine production.

It was on the Costa Vicentina, where the sea and the cliffs meet in a unique ecosystem, that he chose to plant his vineyards and it is the grapes that are taken from here, the result of hours of work and dedication, that give rise to Vicentino.

In Zambujeira do Mar, where the high temperatures of Alentejo are attenuated by the Atlantic, the typical concentration of inland viticulture is balanced by the freshness and humidity of the sea, leading to optimal ripening. The grapes thus ripen in a slow and balanced way, with cool and wet winters, mild summers and the constant presence of sea winds, creating wines where elegance overcomes robustness.

Planted in clay-schist and sandy loam soils, with low productive potential, the Vicentino grape varieties boast their best attributes. The low productivity imposed by the land will act as a stimulus to the quality of the grapes that are formed, promoting an ideal concentration of organic acids, sugars and phenolic compounds. The achievement of this balance between quantity and quality, together with a mild climate, makes it possible to obtain a raw material of excellence.
