Pretexto Rosé is a single varietal of Jaen, from vineyards in Vila Nova de Tazém, Serra da Estrela sub-region.
2021 had a very cold winter with snow at medium altitudes and ended with plenty of rain. Budbreak started in April and the spring was generally mild, with some episodes of hail in the Dão, without affecting production/quality. The summer was cool, making the ripening of the grapes slow and a higher concentration of acidity at harvest time. The harvest was long, with interruptions between grape varieties and marked by some rains. It is a year with an increase in production compared to 2020, but with greater freshness and natural acidity , in which the wines will have an overall more elegant profile.
The pretexto rosé 2021 grapes were pressed whole, unloaded by hand. The gentle pressing allowed a direct fermentation without decantation, in stainless steel vats aged in total lees for 7 months.
Tasting Notes
Onion skin colour with a discreet aroma of reduction fruit, typical of the Jaen variety. Fresh sensation in the aroma that accompanies the mouth with good acidity, balance and some complexity, which make this rosé something gastronomic.
