The icon. Since the 90s, Tapada de Coelheiros Garrafeira has been a symbol of the ability of Alentejo and Coelheiros to produce wines with great longevity – one of the main characteristics and sign of greatness of this wine. Garrafeira represents bottle aging at its best, honoring our history and rewarding those who know that great wines need and deserve time.
Vinification
The grapes were harvested by hand and transported to the winery where they were destemmed. Alcoholic fermentation took place in a stainless steel mill at a temperature of 26–27°C. Once finished, we kept the wine in post-fermentative maceration for 5 days. Malolactic fermentation occurred naturally in stainless steel tanks and was then transferred to barrels where it remained for 18 months. This was followed by the allotment.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby colour. The aroma reveals great complexity, combining notes of black pepper, and ripe forest fruits. In the mouth it is structured and intense, with firm tannins but refined by the aging time. Freshness balances concentration, adding elegance and length. The ending is persistent and precise.
