Tasting Notes
Deep purple colour, floral notes of violets with a predominance of red fruit aromas (strawberry and cherry) ending with slight sensations of coffee, cocoa and toasted wood, due to its ageing in barrels. On the palate, tannins well present, but round, with an elegant acidity that gives it an impactful freshness, complemented by the characteristic minerality of the Douro, ending in a voluminous, persistent and enveloping aftertaste.
Vinification
The grapes were harvested by hand, at their ideal point of ripeness, with the intention of presenting a vigorous ripeness, leading to higher aromatic and polyphenolic concentrations. The vinification was done in stainless steel vats, thus allowing the quality constituents present in the skins of the very ripe grapes to pass smoothly into the wine with slight pumping and prolonged macerations.
Aging
After malolactic fermentation, the wine aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year.
