Quinta da Bulfata Reserva Red 2021, produced at the Douro Superior PDO, is the ultimate expression of the deep and concentrated character of this Douro sub-region. The grapes, from vineyards installed in schist soils with a transition between granite and schist, with sandy areas, are harvested manually and transported in small 18 kg boxes, ensuring maximum integrity of the fruit upon arrival at the winery.
After careful sorting, the grapes are destemmed and gently crushed, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks with strict temperature control. During this process, gentle pumping over is carried out, allowing the elegance, aromatic purity and complexity of the grape varieties selected for the blend to be preserved.
The wine ages for 14 months in new and 1st year French oak barrels, giving it depth, structure and perfectly integrated notes of spice and chocolate.
In the glass, it has a deep color, very intense, almost red and bright. The nose is powerful and complex, with typical aromas of the Douro Superior: rockrose, mint, black fruits such as plum and sour cherry, compote notes of blackberry and elegant nuances of chocolate. In the mouth it is full, structured and intense, with abundant tannins, but fine and elegant, and a long and persistent finish, clearly demonstrating its excellent aging potential.
A great Douro wine, ideal for lovers of structured and aging reds.
