The Muscat that washed ashore
It hit the coast in the middle of August 2010, it is Moscatel Roxo and nicknamed Costa à Costa. It was born with 13 degrees of probable ripeness, went straight to destemming in the cellar and was incubated in cement for three days to ferment. With brandy it was resurrected in an optimal state of fermentation, went into the process of reassembling for 10 days and hibernated for another 6 months in a state of maceration.
He woke up in March 2011, racked to the stainless steel and went to the barrels in a clear state after decantation. What if, instead of falling asleep again in the cradle of the winery, you boarded the hold of the Évora Boat and stayed there for 5 years? Yes, this was the challenge that led to a long journey aboard French oak barrels, already filled with great wines. Along the Sado River he met dolphins, passed by the Tagus where he got to know Lisbon and simply let himself be lulled to the taste of time, history and lived a completely disruptive experience.
It docked in 2016 at Doca de Santo Amaro, in Lisbon, left the barrels loaded with lees and walked to Adega Horácio Simões. Along the way, the eccentric and unconventional aromas were exalted, but it was necessary to wait for the lees to settle before the final tasting. A few weeks later we wet our beaks and were literally surprised, the result was well above expectations but we wanted to go further. Time, the time that time has and the calm that calms us in the creative process, were at the genesis of the transformation of a surprising Muscatel, to the creation of a Moscatel rich in genius.
Rest assured, we think! See you in 2019…
After a long journey from coast to coast, you reached the high point of a mind-blowing sensory experience, the eccentricity of an irreverent story and the tradition of sailing that so characterizes our culture.
The Moscatel Roxo Costa a Costa is not to be drunk. It is felt, lived and experienced in its fullness whenever we share it, whenever the thirst for knowledge makes room for the foundation of great memories.
Vinification
This Moscatel Roxo is a wine that respects the terroir, the vineyard, the people, the tradition and the identity of the various generations of the house. A good dose of healthy madness meant that this Moscatel Roxo 2010 was on board for five long years, which subjected it to sea agitation and different temperatures. In this way it grew and matured in an astonishing way. It is, after all, the result of 110 years of life dedicated to vineyards and wine, where a lot of commitment, innovation and experimentation persisted.
Tasting Notes
Dark topaz in color. With floral aromas, spices and evolution, in the mouth it is round, very soft and fresh, with a very long aftertaste.
