Vinification
The ageing process of our house intensifies the fruit, creating a complex palate that is characteristic of great old liqueurs. This Basterdo is ideal for finishing a meal and becomes an inspiration for a good conversation. It is produced according to the traditional method of the great generosity in our house. The hand-picked grapes are destemmed and crushed, followed by fermentation with maceration of the skins to extract the best constituents. The addition of the wine brandy establishes the balance between the body and the aroma of the wine, being the ideal moment established by the Oenology team after a strict control. Over the years, Horácio Simões Fortified wines have been carefully racked, tasted and analysed and blended based on the teachings left by previous generations. Before going out to the market, our wines are evaluated by the family tasters (mandatory representation of 3 generations).
Tasting Notes
Dark amber in color. With complex aromas, jam, figs, spice and dried fruits, in the mouth it is round, very soft and fresh, with a fresh and long aftertaste.
