This wine is made from the Alvarinho grape variety, grown exclusively in the sub-region of Monção and Melgaço. The location of this sub-region provides a very special microclimate surrounded by a mountain range that allows a unique combination of precipitation, temperature and luminosity. The vines are planted in poor granitic soils, with sun exposure. The harvest is usually early to obtain the exceptional aromatic freshness that characterizes this variety.
Vinification
The grapes were harvested by hand in small boxes and quickly transported to the winery. The destemmed whole grapes were pressed, followed by cold decanting for 48-72 hours. Long fermentation at low temperatures of 14-18ºC. Three to four months of ageing on fine lees with regular bâtonnage.
Tasting Notes
It is a classic wine, which translates well the typicity of the grape variety and region from which it originates.
The profile is distinctive and serious, resulting in subtly aromatic, dry and elegant wines. On the nose it has floral notes, citrus, nectarine and some nuances of aromatic herbs that give it complexity.
In the mouth it has an excellent acidity and a delicate structure. Finishes long and persistent.
