Soils
The vineyards that are determined to produce wines from which the quality wine brandy with the right to the Lourinhã denomination is obtained are installed on Mediterranean brown soils of fine sandstones, clays and red calcareous soils in marg, litholic soils of sandstones, modern alluvial soils and podzols.
Cultural Practices
The vines are strives conducted in a low form, in bowls or cordons. The cultural practices used are the traditional ones in the region and those recommended by the Lisbon Regional Winegrowing Commission in order to obtain quality products.
Vinification
The harvest period takes place in the first days of September, and may change depending on the conditions of ripening of the grapes. From the grapes it produces a wine with a low alcohol content (10% vol.)
Distillation
The distillation of this wine is in a continuous system in a copper column, reaching an alcohol degree between 74º and 77º
Aging
Ageing takes place in the Demarcated Region , in French oak barrels (limousin) and Portuguese, chestnut trees with a capacity of up to 800 litres. The DOC Lourinhã Spirits produced by Adega Cooperativa da Lourinhã are classified as X0 (Extra Old) meaning that they have a minimum age of aging over 5 years
