Niepoort launched its first rosé in 1999, trying to show that a quality wine could also be rosé. Fermented in barrels and sourced from old vines, Redoma is a harmonious and very gastronomic rosé. With the freshness of a white and the complexity and structure of a red, it shows a different perspective than a rosé.
Vinification
The grapes of Redoma Rosé come from Quinta de Nápoles and several plots of old vines nearby.
After careful selection at the sorting table, a delicate pressing and cold decanting followed for 48 hours. Alcoholic fermentation occurred spontaneously in French oak barrels of 228 and 500 liters, where it rested for about 6 months.
Tasting Notes
Following the same style as Rosé 2020, this is a rosé made like a white wine, pressed before fermentation.
The color is a bright onion shade reminiscent of that of a classic Provence Rosé.
The delicate nose reveals notes of violet, red fruits and rhubarb, as well as nutty aromas from fermentation in new French oak barrels. This is a serious Rosé, full of complexity and character.
In the mouth it offers good acidity and light structure, ending with a dry and spicy finish.
