Vineyards
The vineyards are located between the municipalities of Manzano and Spessa di Cividale, in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, an area particularly suitable for hillside viticulture. In Spessa, the soil is famously called Ponca, a mixture of marl and sandstone that has stratified over the millennia. The alkaline nature of the soil, rich in calcium carbonate, combined with significant temperature variations, give the wines flavor and minerality. In Manzano, the soil is composed of marl and clay, which contributes to the production of particularly structured and intense red wines.
Vinification
Harvested at the peak of ripeness, when they reach the correct balance of sugars and acidity, the grapes enter the cellar early in the morning and are crushed. After a month of vinification on the skins in trunk-conical wooden vats, Both masses are then pressed and mixed to continue aging in French oak barrels (medium toast) for approximately 18 months. Then, follow the filtering, bottling, and packaging procedures.
Tasting Notes
Intense red with purple undertones, the nose offers notes of red fruits and notes of sweet spices. The freshness gives a good balance to the surrounding body.
