Vineyards
Our vineyards are located a short distance east of Taranto, on the Salento Peninsula, in a red, clay soil. The sea breezes of the Ionian Sea allow you to obtain delicate flavors in the grapes and sensations of freshness and persistence in the mouth. This variety owes its name to its early ripening, in fact, “Primitive” derives from the Latin “primativus”, which means “early ripening”. By the way, our Primitivo is harvested at the end of August.
Vinification
Destemming and crushing of the grapes, maceration at controlled temperature for 8-10 days with regular pumping over. Decantation and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Refinement in used American and French oak barrels for 4-5 months.
Tasting Notes
Intense ruby red colour with violet reflections; Complex bouquet with lots of red fruits. Full-bodied, smooth, quite tannic, harmonious. Ready to drink.
