Vital is an autochthonous Portuguese grape variety present mainly in the Lisbon region. It has in Serra do Montejunto the ideal conditions for its best development. It originates from the cross between Malvasia Fina and Rabo de Ovelha. It does well in areas of maritime influence due to its good wind resistance.
It produces wines with medium alcohol content and medium acidity, fruity, balanced and delicate. If placed in barrels, they gain a greater aging potential. The time of ageing in the bottle also helps the wines of this variety a lot, they gain very interesting notes with evolution. Its synonyms are Boal Bonifácio and Malvasia Corada, the latter is used in the Douro and Dão regions.
